Thank you for the memories

the little ones from 1I and 1H back in 2007 when i was a teaching temporarily were all grown up! a few names that i managed to remember from the awkward and eager faces that day were chee king, kheng hong, max, victor and yong bang. the rest were familiar, but no more names in my poorly organized directory. i remember you guys! i just can't find your name yet! haha!

they were all grown up! did i say that already? well, they really are! they used to be little ones, now they were all big and some losing their baby fat and some have longer faces and remarkably taller and some are getting really good looking ( i smell teen idol coming up that way) and less afraid to see me in the eye! shy yes, but they were no longer my little ones in the humid and sweaty classrooms, whom i yelled at for being tardy and for making exciting noises, and for being rude ( they are just being kids) and for losing concentration and for forgetting that important form i asked them to get signed!!!

no, they are now looking at me in the eye, making jokes like old time but no pressure on my behalf anymore. i missed them very much. they were my very first students. the lasts? who could tell? God ain't saying anything yet!

i wished i could be a better teacher. i wished i could have taught them more on being a person rather than how to finish reading the textbook in time for the exam. i wished we talked. i wished i had more time to listen to their problems. obviously everyone has a whole tonne. they were so willing and eager to share! can i go back to teaching? i won't make a really good one, but i really enjoyed it and i would really try my best this time. i would take it seriously!

then there's the meeting our primary school teachers, oh my oh my, it was awesome! i never knew how much i missed them and the old school buildings and how grateful i am towards them! harsh at times but they shaped the me i am today. i really love them love them love them! and seeing that they all have gotten older and wiser-looking reminds me of the time that had passed. ten years. ten years, what did i do in this ten long years? i just kept moving along the staircase, step by step, just on the one they nudged me towards, never knowing or bothered asking why. and i got here now. somewhere murky where i don't necessarily understand or wanted to be in. but i can just keep climbing. changing the world just ain't on my list of priorities anymore.

how many ten years would i still have? i hope i would be more contended with my next ten~
